Memphis, Tennessee is widely known as the birthplace of various American music genres like blues, gospel and rock n' roll. Many notable singers have come out of Memphis, like Ruth Welting and Kallen Esperian just to name a few. The Memphis Botanical Garden and the Fedex Forum are a couple of great venues to see concerts that come to the city. The Orpheum Theatre houses some of the best theatre shows around, playing shows year-round like Memphis - The Musical, Rock Of Ages, Anything Goes, Mary Poppins, Jersey Boys, Blue Man Group, Catch Me If You Can and Billy Elliot. Memphis is also home of the NBA's Grizzlies, who play their home games at the Fedex Forum. Formerly the Vancouver Grizzlies from 1995 to 2001, the team is part of the Western Conference Southeast Division. There's also many other cool entertainment venues around Memphis to check out, like Cannon Center For The Performing Arts, Cook Convention Center, Germantown Performing Arts Centre, Liberty Bowl Stadium, Minglewood Hall, Mud Island Amphitheatre and New Daisy Theatre.
